From Sunshine Review
AFT Pennsylvania represents more than 36,000 members in 93 local affiliates throughout the Commonwealth, including teachers and school-related personnel, health care professionals, higher education faculty members and state employees.[1]
AFT Pennsylvania is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which was founded in 1916 to represent the economic, social and professional interests of classroom teachers. The AFT is an affiliated international union of the AFL-CIO.
Local teacher unions affiliated with AFT Pennsylvania tend to be in urban districts. However, AFT Pennsylvania represents fewer teachers and school personnel than the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
