Association for Fair Government

The Association for Fair Government (AFG) is a Georgia organization formed to keep tabs on local government. Along with the Thompson Building Wrecking Company, the Association for Fair Government filed a complaint June 4, 2008 against the city of Augusta and Procurement Director Geri Sams alleging that they were not in compliance with Georgia's Sunshine Law. ^[1] This compliant follows up an earlier suit filed against Augusta by AFG, where the plaintiffs allege that bidding procedures were not adhered to. "The lawsuit also alleges Ms. Sams doesn't follow city code in obtaining quotes, doesn't retain requisition forms and doesn't maintain a list of bidders."^[2]

Robert Mullins, the attorney for AFG spearheading the lawsuit and complaint, also contends that every open records request he has filed with the city has been met with excessive delays.^[3]
