Dr. Barbara Murray is a school board member for Brevard Public Schools, Florida, representing District 2. She is serving in her first term, which expires in 2010.

Murray has worked in education for thirty-four years as a public school teacher, middle school principal, assistant high school principal, high school principal, and school district superintendent at John Glenn Schools in Walkerton, Indiana.

When she was a principal in Volusia County, Murray received the Volusia/Flagler Counties’ School Guidance Counselor’s Association Principal of the Year Award "for her child-centered leadership style."

Murray is currently an associate professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Murray earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Ball State University in Indiana. She has an Ed.S. from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University.

Murray recently received the Florida Governor’s Points of Light Award for her C.A.R.E. To Read program that uses registered therapy dogs to motivate at-risk children.[1]
