Brenda A. Priestly Jackson is a member of the Duval County Public School Board, representing District 4. She is serving in her second term, which expires in 2010. She is also serving as the Vice Chairman of the board.
[edit] Prior work
Priestly Jackson served as Chairman of the school board from November 2005-November 2006. As a native of Jacksonville and a graduate of Jean Ribault Senior High School, she attended Grambling State University, serving as Student Government Association president and earning an undergraduate degree in English.
Priestly Jackson taught in Duval County Public Schools and a correctional facility in New Jersey. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law.
Priestly Jackson recently released her first novel, The Counsel: MK’s First Commission. She is a member of Historic Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church, Council of Urban Board of Education-Racial Isolation Task Force, The National Black Child Development Conference, Jacksonville Community Council, Inc., Florida School Boards Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Inc.
Her husband, DeAndre’ Jackson, is an urban school teacher. The couple has four children, all of whom have attended or still attend Duval County Public Schools.[1]
