Brevard County is one of 67 counties in Florida. Titusville is the county seat.

Brevard's population as of 2007 was 552,109. It is one of 20 charter counties in the state. It became a charter county in 1994.[1]

The Board of County Commissioners outsources financial and performance audits to two private CPA firms. An audit committee made up of citizen reviews the reports.[21]
