Charles Maxwell is a member of the Columbia County School Board, representing District 2. His term expires in 2012 and he was first elected to the board in 2004.

Maxwell was born and raised in Columbia County, having graduated from Fort White Public School, North Florida Junior College and Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology.

After 35 years with the Florida Department of Corrections/Probation and Parole, where Maxwell served as a Probation Officer, Office Supervisor and Circuit Administrator in 3 Judicial Circuits, he is retired. Maxwell has served as an adjunct instructor at two Community Colleges and also, has was a substitute teacher in elementary, middle, high school, ESE and vocational classrooms for three years.

Maxwell has been involved in a variety of community issues, i.e., "Protect Ichetucknee Now", "Save Our Suwannee", dugout club, youth baseball and board member of the South Columbia Sports Park.[1]
