[edit] City tightens public records laws

"VENICE- City officials will no longer be able to use their personal e-mail for city business or use city computers for personal business under strict new policies the Council approved Today.

The new policies come a day after the state's Commission on Open Government Reform approved its recommendations for revamping the Sunshine Law and a month before the city has to defend itself in a Sunshine Law civil suit against nine former and current city officials.

Sarasota activist Anthony Lorenzo claims the officials communicated about city business using their personal email accounts in violation of the law."
