[edit] Commission OKs new policy for handling public records

"A new policy for handling public records requests in Franklin County will create a system for tracking requests and sets time limits for inspecting records.

The county commission adopted the policy Wednesday on a 2-0 vote. Commissioner Brad Peck was absent because he was attending public records training in Ellensburg.

The county drew up the policy to standardize for all departments practices on how to respond to records requests. The policy requires that public records officers be appointed in each department and implements a uniform request form.

It also will establish a countywide system for tracking records requests. It sets a copying fee of 15 cents per page for black-and-white copies, but waives the fee for requests of 34 pages or fewer."
