[edit] Superintendent Resignation
New superintendent James Tenbusch retired from his position less than one year after receiving it. Parents in the district requested his removal, saying that he failed to deliver on promises made. Local parent Yvonne Mayer filed an Illinois Freedom of Information Act request for the details of Tenbusch's severance package. After initially denying the request, the school district eventually complied and supplied Mayer with the documents she had requested. She discovered that Tenbusch was entitled to a severance package including "one year's salary, 40 days' worth of unused vacation time, membership dues for school administration associations for one year, the equivalent of an annual medical exam and reimbursement for finding a new job". [1] So far, the district has paid out $198,570.
[edit] Teacher Contract Dispute
The School Board and the Hinsdale Clarendon Hills Teachers Association have been in negotiations over teacher contracts since April 2008. Parents in the district have asked the school board to take the tightening economy into account when considering the teachers association's proposal, and to remain fiscally responsible. [2] After scheduling and rescheduling meetings to make a decision on the contract a final meeting is expected to take place October 1, 2008. [3] The dispute has stretched on for six months.
