"You might have noticed and, if we were doing our job properly, you should not have missed it.

This newspaper and the Monroe school system have been entangled in an open records dispute of some duration. The News-Star wants the Monroe City School Board and its superintendent, James Dupree, to follow the law and to open its books to the public. The school board and Dupree have, for the most part, largely opted to do otherwise."
