Diane Oberquell

Diane Oberquell is the current Commissioner for Washington State's District Two (Thurston County). She is at the end of her fifth term, having begun service as Commissioner in 1998.[1]"Prior to her election as County Commissioner, Mrs. Oberquell served as Executive Director of Families and Friends of Missing Persons and Violent Crime Victims. She worked previously for both the Washington State House and Senate and for the State Department of Natural Resources."[2]

[edit] Common Sense with Paul Jacob (May 2008)

On May 16, 2008, activist Paul Jacob, in his Common Sense publication, shone some light on Commissioner Oberquell's outrage at being audited by the state in the fall of 2007. The exercise was done in order to see how responsive local officials were to requests for public records. According to an article in The Olympian, Oberquell referred to the audit as a "sting operation."[3]
