[edit] Disclosing elected officials on government websites

Websites sponsored by the government should include information about who serves on the governing board. The governing board could be a school board, a city council, a county commission, or other board that has the power and authority to set policy and taxes for a particular political jurisdiction.

The website should include:

  • The names of all elected officials who serve on the governing board.
  • Contact information for all elected officials. Contact information should include a physical address, a telephone number and an e-mail address.
  • The website should include information about terms of office and date of next election.
  • If the elected official was elected in a partisan election, the website should indicate the party affiliation of each elected politician on its governing board.
  • Conflict of interest agreement.
  • Committee appointments
  • Voting record
