The Florida School Board Attorneys Association is an organization that consists of attorneys that represent the state of Florida's 67 school districts. The organization has quarterly meetings to address the current issues that are affecting school boards across Florida. It advises school boards on what is legally within limits; for example, the banning energy drinks from schools.[1]

Additionally, the FSBAA provides the C. Graham Carothers Award of Excellence for excellence in the legal profession. [2]

[edit] Membership

School districts pay out of their budgets for membership in organizations. For example, Putnam County. [3] Access to the membership page of the website requires an user name and password. [4]

[edit] Affiliates

The Florida School Board Attorneys Association is affiliated with the National School Boards Association. [5]

[edit] School board member salaries

The Florida School Board Attorneys Association came out against a law that changed salary procedures for school board members. Previously, members' salaries were set by population, and the law changed that to allow the board itself to control salaries. [6]

The group allegedly advised their members to ignore the law and to continue with the current wage scale that is based on population, which would raise the salary of members in some districts. [6]
