Frank Corrente was the chief of administration under Mayor Vincent A. Cianci Jr. He also served as Cianci's campaign treasurer. Corrente retired in 1999.[1]

Operation Plunder Dome was the FBI's investigation into widespread corruption within the city of Providence, Rhode Island.
[edit] Indictments
In 2000, Corrente was indicted on charges that he took payoffs from a businessman working undercover for the FBI, Antonio Freitas, to help Freitas obtain a School Department lease and to expedite city payment for services that Freitas -- a heating and air-conditioning contractor -- had performed.[1]
In 2001, a 97-page, 30-count indictment was unsealed that charged Corrente with several additional counts, including charges that he served as the mayor's point man in shaking down tow operators.[1]
[edit] Conviction and Pension
Frank Corrente was convicted in 2002 on racketeering, bribery and related charges stemming from that probe. The Providence Retirement Board decided to suspend Corrent's pension after the conviction, then revised that decision in August, saying he should get a reduced pension for his earlier service. On October 8, 2008, Providence Mayor David Cicilline called for changes to the city's pension law that would automatically revoke any pension for a city worker sentenced to prison for work-related felonies.[2]
