[edit] Website evaluation

Main article: Evaluation of Virginia county websites

[edit] The good

  • County board members' contact information is posted.[1]
  • Contact information for county administrative officials is posted on the individual departments' web pages.
  • Budgets[2] and audited annual financial reports[3] for current and previous years are posted.
  • Building permit status[4] can be checked and building inspections[5] can be scheduled online.
  • County taxes can be paid online.[6]

[edit] The bad

  • While the website provides an archive of county board meeting agendas and resolutions going back to 1933,[7] no county board meeting minutes are posted.
  • Current bid requests are posted,[8] but no listing of awarded contracts is available.
  • A FOIA request form[9] and a FOIA request response policy[10] are posted, but there is no record of the county's FOIA compliance is available.
  • There is no information regarding any relations with lobbying associations the county might have. But the Virginia Association of Counties[11] lists the county as a member.
