From Sunshine Review
Gallia County, Ohio is one of eighty-eight counties in Ohio. As of 2000, the population was 31,069. Its county seat is Gallipolis. Its name is the Latin word for "France"; the name was chosen because of the large numbers of French immigrants who originally settled the county.
