[edit] Governor has qualms over release of names, vetoes public records bill

"Governor Donald Carcieri, who twice campaigned on a platform of clean, honest and open government, has vetoed a bill that would strengthen the state’s open records law.

The veto was announced late last week—the day before the Fourth of July—and was accompanied by about 30 other vetoes. (Some of the vetoes were duplicate House and Senate bills.)"
