[edit] Open meetings
Meetings of the city commission are open to the public, per state law. Although law does not provide for it, in Hollywood members of the public are asked to provide their ID before entering a meeting. "An opinion issued in 2005 by then-Attorney General Charlie Crist states asking visitors for ID prior to city meetings 'could have a chilling effect on the public's willingness to attend'" but the city persists, citing security concerns as the explanation.
