[edit] Public information denial
A lawsuit, Howell Education Association v. Howell Board of Education, sought to prevent release of personal electronic mail between teachers and union leaders sent on work computers. The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled in the teachers' favor in January 2010.[3][4][5]
The court ruling reversed a previous ruling in 2008. Within its discussion of its ruling, it stated that the Michigan Freedom of Information Act did not provide for current technology and that this confuses the matter.[5]
