Transparency grading process

Want to know how you can make your state or local government more transparent? Here are some of our suggestions below:

Update your website

Here at Sunshine Review we are happy to collaborate with public officials who want their governments to earn a perfect transparency score. To do this your government website will need to meet all of 10-Point Transparency Checklist items.

To start check out which items are listed for your government website.

If you believe you're site is ready to be reviewed by one of our editors, please e-mail us and we'll be happy to review it. Because Sunshine Review is also written by volunteer writers, if you feel there is an error in your review, you can also contact us to take another look at your website. Our contact information is:

Still need help with your website? Sunshine Review has launched a job board and where web developers may list themselves. Sunshine Review has no relationship with these individuals, but these developers believe they can help you get an "A+" transparency grade for your state or local government.

Pass transparency legislation

Are you looking to pass legislation that will make proactive disclosure permanent for your local government? Sunshine Review has worked with the Sunshine Standard to draft transparency legislation that would make disclosing our checkpoints mandatory. You can find the Sunshine Standard and samples of that legislation here.

Find your transparency allies

Looking for activists and organizations dedicated to transparency in your state? Find them at the Sunshine Standard and get involved.
