The constitution of Idaho provides for three branches of government: the executive, legislative and judicial branches. Idaho has a bicameral legislature, elected from 35 legislative districts, each represented by one senator and two representatives. Idaho still operates under its original (1889) state constitution. Idaho's government has an alcohol monopoly.

Our View: Kempthorne shares blame with state law

August 6, 2008: Dirk Kempthorne is lurching toward releasing papers from his seven-year tenure as governor - a mere 27 months after leaving office.

No one can accuse the governor-turned-interior secretary of rushing into this one.
