Jackson Township is a municipality in Pennsylvania. It is located in the northwest region of Lebanon County. The township was established in 1813, but is believed to have been settled prior to 1700. [1]

[edit] Governance

The township is governed by a board of supervisors.

[edit] Public records

The board of supervisors "unanimously rescinded a previously approved motion to begin putting approved minutes on the township Web site". The decision was explained by saying the updated Pennsylvania Right to Know Law requires tracking of all public records requests, therefore they will not provide public records without first receiving a request. However, the law states, "an agency may make its public records available through any publicly accessible electronic means."

Board Chairman Dean Moyer said, "I hope that we never have a request for public records!" and added that "sometimes the less you know, the better off you are". He also questioned attendees of the public meeting where this decision was reached if they really felt that the township was being run so poorly that access to public records was necessary. [2]
