Keith Elkins

Keith Elkins is a longtime Austin, Texas, journalist who is executive director of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas.
A former reporter for KEYE-TV in Austin, Elkins took over as head of FOIFT in early 2009 following the organization's move from Dallas to Austin.[1] He has worked to raise the foundation's profile in Texas by employing social media applications and working on Capitol Hill to defeat legislation that would close records and limit public access to information.[1]
Outside journalism, Elkins has previously served as communications director for the Texas comptroller's office and for the Texas Lottery Commission.[1] Before moving to Austin in 1981, he worked for KFDM in Beaumont, Texas.[1] He is originally from Alabama and is an alumnus of the University of Alabama, where he was a double major in communications and political science.
