Laura Lee Prather

Laura Lee Prather is an attorney and First Amendment advocate in Austin, Texas, who is president of the Freedom of Information Foundation Texas.She is a member of the Texas Association of Broadcasters' board of directors and serves on its Legislative Task Force. She also serves as legal counsel for the Legislative Advisory Committee of the Texas Daily Newspaper Association and the Texas Press Association.[1]

She received the Texas Association of Broadcasters’ Award of Honor for her “Outstanding Efforts in the Continuing Battle to Pass the Texas Free Flow of Information Act” during the 80th legislative session in 2007.[1]
She was a co-chair for the American Bar Association's Women in Communications Law Committee for the 2009-2011 term and served as a co-chair of the American Bar Association's First Amendment and Media Litigation Committee. She is also member of the Council for the State Bar of Texas Entertainment & Sports Law Section.[1]
She is a partner with the firm of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold, where her practice is concentrated at the trial and appellate level in commercial and business litigation, First Amendment litigation, pre-publication review and clearance work, copyright and trademark litigation, general commercial litigation, open government issues and privacy concerns.[1]
She has previously served on the board of directors for Austin's public television station, KLRU-TV.[1]
