Linda Powers is a school board member for Citrus County Schools, Florida, representing District 5. She is serving her second term as a school board member. In 2004 she was elected to serve the remaining two years of Sandra “Sam” Himmel’s term when she became Superintendent. Linda was re-elected in 2006.

Powers is a Florida native, born and raised in the small town of Green Cove Springs. She graduated from Clay High School and St. Johns River Junior College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Jacksonville University, a Masters of Science in English Education from Florida State University and a Masters of Arts in Guidance and Counseling from Rollins College.
She was a teacher or counselor at the elementary through community college levels.
Powers has served on numerous community boards, including the Festival of the Arts Committee, the WIthlacoochee Regional Planning Council, Habitat for Humanity and the Citrus County Fair among others.
Linda has lived in Inverness for 31 years. She is married to Dr. David Powers, has three children, Faith, Wes and Shelbie, and two grandchildren, Valentina and Annabelle.[1]
