[edit] Introduction

The purpose of House Bill 73 is to provide for electronic filing of reports for campaign finance disclosures. This bill is one of several passed during Louisiana's 2008 special session on transparency and ethics reform.

[edit] Overall Scope

Any Person or Political Committee that is not a candidate or authorized political committee of a candidate, that either receives or spends over $50,000 per year must file all required reports electronically through the Board of Ethics Computer Data Management System. This process is described in Louisiana "Law RS 42 Section 1158."

Any entity required to file such reports, and fails to do so may be fined up to $500 per day until the reports are filed. [1]

All campaign finance reports filed through the Board of Ethics Computer Data Management System will be public record.
