The Maine Heritage Policy Center (MHPC) is a non-profit research and educational organization based in Maine. According to its website, its "mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise; limited, constitutional government; individual freedom; and traditional American values--all for the purpose of providing public policy solutions that benefit the people of Maine."[1]

[edit] Maine Open Government
In September 2008, MHPC launched Maine Open Government. The website includes information on all public employee payrolls, pension benefits and vendor contracts in the state.
[edit] Maine School Choice
Maine School Choice invites citizens to "join us as we work to put together a statewide coalition to preserve and expand school choice opportunities for Maine students!"[2] It acts as a home for school choice supporters to meet, organize, and act.

MHPC conducts research and publishes work in five major areas - tax and spend, health care, education, open government, and constitutional law.

J. Scott Moody serves as chief economist and head of research on taxes and spending.

Sam Adolphsen is the coordinator of the Center for Open Government at the Maine Heritage Policy Center. The Center for Open Government hosts the MaineOpenGov.org website which shows 90,000 public employees on the state payroll and billions of dollars in state spending data.

Arnold S. Clark is the director of the Center for Constitutional Law. The mission of the Center "is to protect private property rights in Maine and restore economic freedom by challenging illegal state laws and local ordinances."[3]

MHPC receives funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations. It does not accept government funds.[1]
