The Michigan Association of Planning is a taxpayer-funded lobbying association in Michigan. According to their mission statement found on the organizations website: The Michigan Association of Planning exists so that Michigan will consist of healthy, safe, attractive, and successful communities built first and foremost on quality community planning.
MAP is a 501 C3 tax-exempt not for profit organization located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Membership dues range from: $60 for an individual, $625 for groups up to 12, $750 for corporate groups up to 12, $100 for contributing members, $200 for sustaining members, and $15 for students. Contributing and sustaining memberships are for those who contribute additional funds to the Michigan Association of Planning. [1]
The Michigan Association of Planning has a membership of more than 5,300, 80 percent of which are citizens appointed to planning commissions and zoning boards of appeals. Members also serve on planning commissions, zoning boards, appeals councils/boards, planning departments, law firms, municipal offices, architectural firms, engineering firms, and federal and state agencies. Wind energy policy: The MAP is committed to the development of wind energy systems and legislation that reduces dependence on fossil fuels and encourages the development of wind energy systems.
Michigan right to farm act: The Michigan right to farm act was passed in 1981 to give farmers protection from nuisance lawsuits. The MAP supports community regulation in re: to zoning regulation and supports farmowners' right to operate in areas that have been established for agricultural use.
Sprawl restriction: The MAP is dedicated to revising current statutes that support or subsidize sprawl and other compact settlement programs.
Development rights funding: The MAP supports developing an sufficient permanent funding source for the acquisition of development rights.
Funding for planning and development region: The MAP supports legislation that will stabilize state funding for state determined planning and development regions. [3]
