[edit] Most police records now available for $1
"The state's new Right to Know Law has resulted in a price drop -- from $15 to $1 -- for copies of most police reports from at least one police department in the north suburbs.
Previously, anyone who wanted a copy of any police report from the Northern Regional Police Department paid $15. Now, that charge applies to only accident reports. The accident report fee is mandated by state code, Chief Bob Amann said."
