Nevada Open Government Initiative (2008)
From Sunshine Review
The Nevada Open Government Initiative was created by an executive order issued by Governor Jim Gibbons on March 18, 2008. Citing the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, the executive order calls upon the Department of Administration to create a website detailing state financial transactions.
Included on website
The website, known as the "Nevada Open Government Initiative", is to be an easy to search database, available free to the public. In the executive order, Gov. Gibbons states the purpose of the site as creating a open and transparent government, which in turn would increase accountability, reduce costs, and promote efficiency.
Information on the site is to include four key areas:
- Open Budgets - budget info by state department/agency, budget account and line-item detail
- Open Expenditures - Expenditure information, including vendor payments and payroll
- Open Contracts - Info on state contracts and related vendor information
- Open Grants - Grants and sub-grant award information
As of August 17, the site only includes information on other state transparency sites.
