New Jersey Education Commissioner initiates school reform
From Sunshine Review
11 July 2008
The New Jersey Legislature recently granted the State Education Commissioner the right to introduce new school reform. Currently, Lucille Davvy's is serving as the State Education Commission for New Jersey.
[edit] New mandates
Davvy's imposed the following mandates on the 615 school districts:[1]
- While Superintendents may be offered a car as a benefit, it may not be a luxury vehicle
- Bonuses must be given in a official manner, not without a process
- The school may hire only one janitor for every 17,500 square feet
If these are not met, the school risks losing state aid.
[edit] Reaction
The New Jersey School Boards Association spokesman, Frank Belluscio responded by saying that edicts had a "punitive tone."
