In June 2008 There were several calls in New York for more transparency, one came in the form of legislation that would require "special districts" in towns to make budget information more easily accessible to the public.
There was also an editorial in the New York Sun by Eric Singer that called for more transparency on the state and local levels. The article suggested that since New York City mayor Bloomberg made his fortune bringing information to Wall Street, he could do the same for the taxpayers
