[edit] New open-records law takes effect today

"The state entered a new era in citizen access to government, as most provisions in the Right to Know Law passed last year took effect today. The six-person staff in the state's Office of Open Records has been prepping for months to deal with the arrival of this legislative New Year's baby.

"You can't imagine how actively busy we've been," said Executive Director Terry Mutchler, recalling a steady flow of questions about the ins and outs of the new law from public officials, the press and citizens; a cross-state barnstorming tour of training sessions; and completion of a Web site designed to help everyone apply the new law to real life."
