Oak Island, North Carolina

Oak Island is a town in North Carolina, located in the southeastern part of the state in Brunswick County on the Atlantic Ocean.

Since 2005, Brian Keesee has been attempting to gain access to public documents of the town under the North Carolina Public Records Law, with minimal success. On July 1, 2008, Keesee filed a lawsuit against the town, its manager and its clerk, claiming the town has withheld information and possibly shredded documents he requested.^[1],^[2] The suit will be going to trial June 29 of 2009. ^[3]
