OSBA is a private, not-for-profit statewide organization for school boards in Ohio. It was founded in 1955, and currently has members from 99.7% of the school districts in the state. [1] The mission statement reads: "OSBA leads the way to educational excellence by serving Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior service and creative solutions." [2]
[edit] Legislative advocacy
OSBA is tracking two "priority" bills in the 2009 session as of March '09. They are Senate Bill 06, which would create a Special Education Scholarship Pilot Program, and House Bill 1, which makes "operating appropriations for the biennium beginning July 1, 2009, and ending June 30, 2011. Provides authorization and conditions for the operation of state programs." [3]
The association is monitoring an additional 22 bills in both the house and senate. The full list can be viewed here: Bill Tracker: Monitor.
