Oklahoma Corruption Trial 2008
From Sunshine Review
June 1 2008
In June 2008 the trial of Oklahoma Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan began. McMahan was accused of accepting various gifts from Oklahoma businessman Steve Phipps in exchange for favorable treatment of Phipps business. This came as quite a shock because McMahan was elected to monitor the ethics of other state employees.
[edit] Transparency
It was revealed that Mr. McMahan makes $109,000 a year and, though that he has not been to his office since January, he was still collecting his pay check. This is considered by many to be a great waste of money, as well as hypocrisy as his website states that Mr. McMahan is "Protecting your tax dollars".
[edit] After the Trial
Mr McMahan was convicted in his trial and resigned his post on June 16th 2008
