February 23, 2008
Dear County Commissioners, (sometimes also referred to as board members)
My name is ___________ and I'm a constituent in your district who is participating in Open Illinois Week. Open Illinois Week is an effort to create more transparent government by having leaders like you sign the Open Illinois Transparency Pledge included in this packet. Signing this pledge allows you to go on the record in supporting transparency in government, a policy that all Illinoisans support.
As a resident of _______________ I would like you to know that I support transparency in government and request that you follow the lead of nearly 59 Illinois school districts, villages, townships, cities and counties who have taken the lead for good, clean government by regularly placing their expenditures online for public availability.
More information on why this is a smart, swift policy that doesn't need to cost one cent is available on Open Illinois.org.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this very important matter. I will be recording your response on Sunshine Review.org.
Sincerely,
