Orange USD serves the cities of Orange and Villa Park, the unincorporated land of Silverado, and parts of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and an unpopulated area of Yorba Linda.
[edit] Website evaluation
The Orange school district website includes a list of the Board members and their contacts[1]. The Board meeting agendas and minutes are posted[2]. There are contacts for the Administrators[3]. Audit reports[4] and budget reports[5] are available. Links to the school accountability report cards are posted, too[6].
[edit] Rocco lawsuit
In 2006, the Board of Trustees of OUSD filed a successful counterclaim in the case of Californians Aware v. Orange Unified School District, asserting that its free speech rights were being violated by a legal effort on the part of Californians Aware and Steve Rocco to require the board to rescind its censure of Rocco and release an un-edited DVD of board proceedings from a September 2006 board meeting.
