[edit] Controversy over Florida state science standards
Weeks faced public scrutiny over her remarks during hearings involving the revision of Florida's scientific standards, i.e. teaching evolution. Weeks stated, "The standards deny academic freedom to students and teachers." Her local school board had voted to request revised standards in which "evolution is not presented as fact."[1]
