The Portsmouth Public Schools district is a school district in Virginia. There are three high schools, three middle schools, 14 elementary schools, two Pre-K Centers, one special education center, an alternative school, an adult learning center, and a career and technology center within the district. Enrollment is estimated around 15,250 students.

School board member Keith Nance Sr. was censured by the board for making an inappropriate comment to a female principle after an investigation performed by hired lawyers. A Virginia Freedom of Information Act request was filed for the legal bills of the investigation, and it was found to have cost the district nearly $26,000. [1]
