[edit] Records compliance worries school officials

"Coupeville School District officials are nervous about more-stringent state legal requirements aimed at preserving electronic records and making them more accessible to the public.

At the Coupeville School Board's Jan. 26 meeting, board members and school administrators voiced their concern and displeasure about having to comply with what they say will be a daunting task.

Beginning Jan. 1, all state agencies, municipalities and junior taxing districts were charged with preserving their electronic public records. The laws require that the documents be maintained for as long as state guidelines dictate, which, in some cases, is forever."
