Reid Petty
From Sunshine Review
Reid Petty is a member of the Liberal school board. At 23, he was the youngest of the 2009 candidates. He attended Seward County Community College, the University of Kansas and Panhandle State University and current works for KSCB radio.
He has said that the board needs to be more hands on and really get to know what is happening in the schools. “I think the board needs to show where the tax dollars are going,” Petty said. “Board members need to walk through schools and find out what the needs of the teachers and administrators are. Each board member should walk through the schools and get to know the teachers and be responsible to the public.”[1]
Promoting fiscal responsibility, Petty has drawn up a plan which he says will save the district $22,722,871.
Facing Cliff Abbott, Nick Hatcher, Cheryl Louderback, and Bart Stapleton in the general election, Petty received 1,933 votes, winning by 452.
