The Rhode Island Statewide Coalition (RISC) is a 501(c)(3) organization which advocates sound government, ethics and conflicts of interest, taxation and fiscal accountability, planning and development, land use, the environment, and voting rights.
[edit] Transparency projects
The organization is involved in Operation Clean government which promotes "honest, responsible and responsive" government.[1]
The group also recently launched "The Money Trail," a transparency website aimed at giving Rhode Islanders more information on how their government spends taxpayer dollars at multiple levels, as well as providing a platform for educated action.[2]
The Money Trail has begun its first phase, in which it is collecting information through the Access to Public Records Act and digitizing the records in order to provide an online collection of requested documents. Currently The Money Trail is supporting legislation to make all state public records be available online upon request.
