Sunshine Review Wikiteer
From Sunshine Review
Put on by the Sam Adams Alliance, the Sammies is a contest awarding $40,000 - divided among nine different categories - to exceptional activists who live by Adams' notion that, "all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought."
About the Wikiteer Award
Along with recognizing bloggers, filmmakers, open records champions, and other government watchdogs committed to liberty, this year the Sammies will honor wiki writers with...<drumroll please>...the Wikiteer Award! Specifically, the Wikiteer Award recognizes the - often tedious and almost always unheralded - hard work of wiki writers that contribute to Ballotpedia, Judgepedia, and Sunshine Review (all Sam Adams Alliance wikis).
A cash prize of $1,000 - and, of course, a smashingly-handsome golden Sammy - is reserved for the best wiki contributor to each wiki.
Qualifications
So, what does that mean for all you Sunshine Review writers? Well, if you're interested in the 1K, you'll want to strive for the following:
- Quantity: high amount of wiki pages created/edited
- Accuracy: creation of error-free pages, fixing existing errors, and correct category use
- Comprehensiveness: contributions that help make the wiki authoritative (i.e. adding internal/external links, images, tables, graphs, etc.)
- Topical: concentrating on a particular issue and going with it, owning it
- Action: taking the next step (i.e. blogging or otherwise publicizing county/state transparency or lack thereof)
More information
- Here's where to submit an application. Under the section in the application that says, "Describe the work and achievements in the selected category", include your user name on Sunshine Review and information about the content you've focused on building here. Be sure to include links to particular wiki pages you've heavily contributed to and are proud of in the "link" box.
