The Swartz Creek Community School District is located in Genesee County, Michigan. According to a report by The Department of Education, the district served 4,259 students for the 2006-2007 school year, making them the 90th largest district in the state. ^[1]

According to a study of the 22 school district in Genesee County conducted by the Flint Journal, the Swartz Creek school district spent $14,219.04 on travel for school board members and superintendents during the 2 1/2 years beginning July 1, 2006. The survey was performed using spending records received via the Michigan Freedom of Information Act. ^[2]

Due to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy's "Show Michigan the Money" transparency project, Swartz Creek Community Schools are publishing monthly check registers online as of January 1st, 2009. The register will include these three major accounts: General Fund, Building & Site and the Child Development Center.
