Talk:Evaluation of Massachusetts school district websites

In the City of New Bedford, we have at least two Public Schools built on a contaminated dump site. In an effort to inform the Public at large concerning the seriousness of the health risks related to the Keith Middle School and the New Bedford High School, a group of concerned citizens formed "Wasted Away". Wasted Away has for over 6 years been battling with the City leaders prior to the building of the Keith to prevent it's being built on that site. Much to no avail and at the insistence of the former Administration the project picked up speed and continued to this day at an precedented pace. New Bedford residents are now forced to pay for long term testing, constant monitoring and an unbelievable array of expenses which could have been avoided had the City Officials paid attention to the concerns of the neighboring residents. To date the City has purchased 6 homes defined by the EPA and the MDEP as having been determined too contaminated for human habitation. Yet, no where on the School Departments website are any of these issues mentioned. I would like to see the truth concerning these issues brought to the forefront and discussed in the openness of a Public Domain. With New Bedford's School drop out rate, the failure of so many students to successfully graduate and pass the MCAS testing, it is time we considered the contamination to be a serious factor. Add to the obvious illnesses of past students, teachers, and general staff, it is beyond time the residents, taxpayers and users of those properties receive honest and believable answers from the Administration, which keeps sweeping this issue under the dampness of the wet rugs found in other schools throughout New Bedford's Public School system.

[edit] There is No antidote for PCB exposure

[edit] Welcome to New Bedford, you and especially your kids will be permanently poisoned.

Let's givethe City's Environmental Steward, who admittedly withheld toxic reports from the public, Scott Alphonse and the present Mayor, Scott Lang, the entire School Committee, the former Mayor and his administration, most of the City Council and the New Bedford School Department administrative dunderheads, a round of applause for their complete lack of concern for the health of New Bedford's school children. Congratulations, all of you have helped perpetrate the slow motion slaughter of thousands of people who trusted you. Maybe we should put forth a motion to change the name of New Bedford to "Majdanek" and change the name of Hathaway Blvd to "Love Canal" Street.

For the love of God, I have no idea how you people sleep at night."
