Washoe County is one of 16 counties in Nevada. The population was 339,486 at the 2000 census; 2006 Census Bureau estimates listed a population of 396,428. Its county seat is Reno.

Washoe County is part of the Reno–Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Washoe County has said they're in the process of redesigning their website to be more usable and transparent. The new website will allow the county to embed video steaming, property information look-up, better access to requesting public records, along with tracking of the requests.[6][7]
