WikiFOIA is a free, online encyclopedia about:
- Freedom of information at the state and local level.
- Legislation governing access to public documents at the state and local level.
- Court cases with an impact on access to public documents.
- The history of open records legislation in each of the fifty states.
- Individuals and groups who are part of the story of state-level open records and transparency.
Background
WikiFOIA was established by the Lucy Burns Institute,[1] a Wisconsin-based non-profit, in February 2007. WikiFOIA was originally built on a PBWiki platform. PBWiki is a popular and simple wiki format.[2]. Starting in the summer of 2008, the process of migrating some but not all of the pages at the PBWiki version of WikiFOIA[3] to the WikiFOIA portal at Sunshine Review began.
