Transparency legislation in Wyoming.
The Wyoming Legislature passed HB 144 - Transparency in Government Finance, sponsored by Representative Sue Wallis, during the 2009 General Session. It was signed by the Governor, Dave Freudenthal, and will become effective on July 1, 2009.

Summary/Major Elements:
This bill requires the department of administration and information to develop the Wyoming public finance website to make the financial information of government entities available on the internet. The bill also gives rulemaking authority to the department related to obtaining information for the website and the development and maintenance of the site.
The measure is intended as a first step towards a fully interactive and searchable public finance website, which is anticipated to take aproximately two years to fully implement.
