Ark. lawmaker proposes database of state spending
"All government expenditures would be available on a searchable Web site and state workers couldn't be fired for requesting public documents under changes proposed Thursday to Arkansas' public records laws.
Rep. Dan Greenberg filed five bills that he said are aimed at strengthening the state's Freedom of Information Act.
The bill requires the Web site to include the amount of state funds spent, the description of their purpose, the recipient and the legislation or other source of authority for the expenditure. The Web site would also be required to include a list of all public meetings." Read the full article here.
